DICJ, Macau Gambling Watchdog, Warns About Card Show Casino Scams

Macau’s Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau (DICJ) has once again released a statement addressing rumors of card shoe tampering in the city’s casinos, stressing that the public should refrain from believing or sharing unverified information and urged everyone to remain alert to potential scams.

What Prompted the DICJ’s Response?

The DICJ‘s latest statement follows the recent spread of social media posts in mainland China. They are alleging that Macau casinos were engaging in “cheating” through the use of card shoes. In response, the DICJ previously emphasized that all gaming equipment used in Macau’s casinos is subject to stringent oversight and must meet applicable legal, regulatory, technical, and safety standards.

Despite the regulator’s clarification, new claims have emerged on mainland social media in recent days. Some users have alleged that players who were supposedly deceived by the casinos’ card shoes can recover their losses through unofficial channels. Certain posts have even encouraged alleged victims to contact designated individuals for assistance in obtaining refunds.

DICJ Claims These “Unofficial Channels” Are Likely Fraudulent

According to the DICJ, the claims are entirely unfounded and warned that the information circulating online is highly likely to be part of a fraudulent scheme. The regulator urged the public not to believe, share, or disseminate unverified reports. The gambling watchdog stressed that doing so could increase the risk of falling victim to scams. It also called on individuals to remain vigilant against social media posts promoting unofficial channels for recovering alleged casino losses.

The regulator further reiterated that all electronic gaming equipment must undergo independent testing by a government-recognized third-party certification body before being put into operation and may only be deployed after receiving the necessary regulatory approval. The DICJ also noted that it conducts regular inspections and unannounced spot checks to verify software versions, packaging integrity, and random number generation systems, ensuring ongoing compliance with applicable standards.

According to the regulator, no abnormalities or instances of non-compliance have been detected during recent inspections. In addition, it reminded the public that any gaming-related disputes should be reported through official channels. DICJ highlighted that resident inspectors are stationed at all casinos in Macau to provide continuous, real-time oversight of gaming operations.

In other recent news from Macau, authorities arrested 26 people for their involvement in an organized prostitution syndicate.
