2026 FIFA World Cup Group Stage

Mexico is set to progress to the Round of 32 without a single loss, nor a single goal conceded to an opponent in Group A. Yet, the Czech Republic is a formidable opponent in its own right who may yet upset these calculations. The Latin American team is a (-112) favorite to triumph over the Europeans, but it will need to tread carefully, with a win against South Korea serving as a major confidence boost.

Can Mexico Ride a Clear Path to Round of 32?

Mexico has had a remarkable overall performance so far in the FIFA World Cup, with the team prying away a 2-0 victory over South Africa, which saw a total of three red cards issued to players on the pitch in what was an intense game overall.

Then, Mexico managed to maintain this momentum, which resulted in further win against South Korea, scoring a single point in 50’ when Luis Romo put the ball in the opponent’s net.

But the team has so much to offer, with Julian Quinones and Raul Jimenez both posing threats to the Czech defenses, as the team will seek to ensure that every shot on target counts.

The Czech Republic previously lost to South Korea in a hard-fought 2-1 game with the team admittedly struggling to keep pace with its opponent, which resulted in the 2 goals, but capable of salvaging misfires on the Asian team’s part to convert them into goals

Now, the Czech Republic will use the lessons it has learned and seek to also possibly progress to the Round 32, but comes from a position of serious disadvantage.

To achieve this, it would not only have to defeat Mexico – the strongest team in Group A which is showing no signs of slowing down, but also do so by substantial lead in the score.

The Czech Republic will almost certainly drop out of the FIFA World Cup after the Wednesday game, but it may still offer a few surprises, the most realistic of which is to see the team manage a tie (+314). The game is also likely to see fewer than 2.5 goals scored.

Despite these verifiable gaps in performance, the Czech Republic has a good chance of winning as well at (+277), but we would settle for a draw – which seems likely and could be interesting to see Mexico take a blemish on its otherwise spotless record.

Pick: Draw (+314)
