Wisconsin Man Charged After Allegedly Shooting Brother at Casino Parking

A man from Wisconsin is facing multiple felony charges after authorities say he shot his brother in the back inside a casino parking garage following a night of drinking and gambling.

Family Matters

L.T. of Appleton has been charged with attempted first-degree intentional homicide with use of a dangerous weapon, along with firearm-related offenses, intoxicated endangerment and resisting an officer, according to a criminal complaint filed in Brown County Circuit Court.

The incident occurred shortly before 2 am Saturday (June 20) at the parking garage of Oneida Casino in Green Bay.

According to prosecutors, the 39-year-old and his brother had spent the evening drinking and gambling at the casino. The victim later told investigators that T. had consumed approximately 12 shots of tequila and two margaritas before tensions escalated.

Court documents allege that, around 1 am, T. started discussing some unresolved issues between him and his brother, trying to start an argument. The victim told police that T. asked him to accompany him to the parking garage, where he believed they would have a private conversation.

Once they reached T.’s car, prosecutors allege that T. pulled a handgun from inside the car and cocked it. The victim said he questioned what his brother intended to do with the weapon before deciding to walk away.

After taking only a few steps, the victim told investigators he was shot in the back.

The complaint states that casino surveillance footage captured T. standing over the wounded man while holding the firearm before leaving the scene in his vehicle.

The victim told police he feared he was about to be killed when the gun was allegedly pointed toward his head after the shooting.

Risky Pursuit

Emergency responders and casino security located the injured man in the parking structure, treating him at the scene and carrying him to a local hospital. Authorities have not released updated information on his condition.

A Brown County sheriff’s deputy later noticed a vehicle matching the suspect’s car and proceeded to initiate a traffic stop. When T. failed to stop, the deputies were forced to launch a brief pursuit and a high-risk stop to arrest him.

Investigators reported finding a handgun inside the vehicle. Court documents also state that T. showed signs of intoxication and refused to take a sobriety test.

Authorities said T. was not allowed to possess a firearm because of a prior felony conviction and an active domestic abuse injunction.

A court commissioner set his cash bond at $750,000. The case remains under investigation.
