Lottery prizes are supposed to bring families together, but for a mom and son from Trumbull County, Ohio, that stroke of luck has actually torn theirs apart.
Margaret Saadi, the plaintiff in a lawsuit, is now accusing her son of stealing the money that the son used to purchase his lottery ticket, going after both her own blood and for blood in general, naming the Ohio Lottery Commission in general.
I Will See You in Court
The complaint specifically names Philip Saadi, who moved in to live with her in Trumbull County from New Mexico in May, and outlines how he used his mother’s checking account to make unauthorized withdrawals to the tune of $6,560.
Philip Saadi is accused of having used the proceeds to purchase lottery tickets, as well as buy drugs to support his habit, with the lawsuit now seeking $10,000.
The exact sum won by the son is not explicitly confirmed in the reporting, but it should be no greater than the sum that Margaret Saadi is now asking of her son and the Ohio Lottery.
The lawsuit also outlines two specific measures – one is an injunction against the Ohio Lottery so that it cannot pay out any winnings to Phillip Saadi, with the other one being a request to place the money in a constructive trust until a final verdict in the case is reached.
