2026 FIFA World Cup Round 32

This is the 2026 FIFA World Cup Round 32 and there are no draws. The knockout round will see 32 teams compete for the chance to progress forward with each game feeling like a mini World Cup final of its own.

Today, we take a look at the upcoming game between Brazil and Japan, with the Latin Americans tipped at (-285) to progress to the next stage whereas the Team of the Rising Sun is coming in as the underdog at (+240).

With so much on the line, dramatic upsets could completely change how the competition goes from this point on, and this is why every team must play at their absolute best.

Brazil has had a fantastic showing at the World Cup so far, with the team only drawing against Morocco and crushing both Scotland and Haiti with 3-0, to advance to the Round of 32.

Despite the draw against Morocco, the team continued to demonstrate its quality, overall ball possession and strong game plan throughout the game, and is now riding on the back of a couple of wins to give it a final push in the game against Japan.

Strikers such as Matheus Cunha and Vinicius Junior remain highly-relevant in the Brazilian team as they have scored every goal in the tournament for the country so far.

This means that Japan can have a game plan and that is to shut down the two players, but the issue is that in Round of 32, a draw or merely defending would not work as a strategy.

Japan Has a Diverse Force of Strikers and Players Capable of Converting

Japan on the other hand has been a little more demurred throughout the tournament, playing relevant and formidable teams so far in the tournaments. The team crushed Tunisia with 4-0, but it drew against both Sweden and the Netherlands, in hard-fought scrabble that left a lot to be desired from the team’s defense.

This chink in the defenses must now be addressed in order for Japan to withstand the onslaught that Brazil will unleash on it. Japan has one specific strength, though.

This is how diverse its striking team is, including talents such as Daichi Kamada, Ayase Ueda, and Junya Ito

There are also Keito Nakamura and Daizen Maeda, who have proven themselves to be formidable strikers, with Japan’s team able to adapt to different situations and able to convert individual players’ performances into successful scoring.

Providing Japan’s backline holds and Brazil does not adapt to this emerging strategy, the country of the rising sun may indeed have its chance to knock out one of the best teams in the game’s history to advance at 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Pick: Japan to Advance (+240)
