Oklahoma’s Choctaw Casino & Resort – Pocola has announced a $140 million expansion and renovation plan aimed at significantly upgrading its hotel, casino, and guest amenities.
The property, which opened in 1994 as a bingo hall, has grown over 30 years into a major entertainment destination serving Northwest Arkansas and the River Valley. Today, it features a hotel, large casino floor, multiple dining venues, and more than 7,000 square feet of meeting and event space.
Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma Chief Gary Batton said the project will strengthen the resort’s role as a major employer and economic driver in LeFlore County. “Choctaw has long been a proud part of this region, growing alongside the community and contributing to its vitality and success,” he said.
“As the largest employer in LeFlore County and the second largest resort in the Choctaw Casinos & Resort portfolio, Choctaw – Pocola plays a vital role in driving economic growth and opportunity in this region,” Batton stated. “This investment will allow us to welcome more guests while delivering an even higher level of hospitality and resort experience.”
Key upgrades include a new seven-story hotel tower with 130 guest rooms, including premium suites, along with a resort-style pool complete with private cabanas and an outdoor bar.
The project also adds a full-service spa focused on wellness and relaxation, as well as a 24-hour fitness center equipped with modern exercise equipment. A new coffee and tea bar will offer specialty drinks and a wide selection of teas.
Additionally, the plan includes renovations to 118 existing hotel rooms, updating furnishings, lighting, flooring, and bathroom features. The casino floor, registration areas, and restrooms will also be refreshed with new finishes and lighting.
Moreover, amenities such as the poker room, off-track betting area, and rewards club will be relocated to upgraded spaces. Restaurants and bars throughout the property will also be refreshed and rebranded, with enhanced menus and craft cocktail offerings.
“We’re excited to share our latest expansion and renovation project with our guests and the community,” General Manager Christy Chaser said. “This investment not only transforms our property by doubling our hotel capacity and introducing contemporary, elevated amenities, but also reflects our ongoing commitment to the people and businesses here.”
The upcoming development will be carried out in partnership with Tutor Perini Construction and JCJ Architecture. An official groundbreaking ceremony is expected to take place later this fall.
