Belgium (-155) is tipped as a slight favorite over Senegal at the upcoming game in the Round of 32. Following a few notable performances in the knockout stage so far, the Europeans will want to make sure that they do not end up as another dramatic upset at the hands of Senegal, which are poised at (+135).

Belgium and Senegal Both Have a Strong Performance So Far
Belgium has been one of the strongest teams during the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with the team owing much to its soccer credentials as much as current form and performance in the Group Stage to deserve this distinction.
Belgium struggled slightly against Egypt, drawing against the team 1-1 and unable to bring the game to an end, and in trying to defeat Iran, the team saw Nathan Ngoy receive a red card in the 67’ and be expelled.
That game too finished at 0-0, with Belgium finally letting its full potential in the final game for the Group Stage against New Zealand, pummeling the Oceanic nation into 5-1 submission.
Leandro Trossard proved his mettle in the game, scoring twice in the 28’ and 50’, demonstrating what a well-oiled Belgium offensive would look like, but he was hardly the only player to take advantage of this opportunity.
Teammates Kevin De Bruyne, Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Saelemaekers all scored against New Zealand, putting their name on the scoreboard, and proving that Belgium runs a wide variety of capable players who, once they find an opening, can realize an opportunity.
Senegal Needs Just a Little Push to Take on the Best Teams
The key is to have Belgium find enough openings, with the team able to roughly convert one in two shots on target into a score. Senegal for its part did fairly well against France, losing 3-1 which, in what was a hard-fought game.
France’s Kylian Mbappe scored in the 66’ and 90+6’ and France actually opened at long last in the 82’ after Bradley Barcola realized an opportunity. Similarly, Senegal scored just before Mbappe’s last point at the 90+5’.
Senegal similarly held its own against Norway, ending the game with 3-2. The key issues Senegal currently faces are strategic and perhaps – in a sense – rooted in a limited roster. The team functions well together, but it may struggle to put enough players forward to reach the enemy’s goalie, unless they are dominating the field entirely as it did against Iraq.
But far more importantly, Senegal has one key quality that has proven difficult to overcome even for world-beating teams such as Norway and France – they are resilient.
France almost got its goals by luck with Senegal’s defense wearing down over the course of the game, of course, but nevertheless – we could have seen the game going another way. So, why Belgium is a world-class team itself, we believe the underdog will be once again the winner here.
Pick: Pick Senegal to Win (+135)
