Outside Paris and Horseshoe Las Vegas, yesterday was the Fourth of July. Inside the casino, yesterday was Day 40 of the 2026 World Series of Poker (WSOP). Players traded chips and table talk in six events, four of which awarded bracelets on the day.
Twenty-one year old Adriaan Jacobs of South Africa won $282,817 and his first WSOP bracelet in Event #78: $600 Deepstack Championship No-Limit Hold’em.
Myles Mullaly survived a gauntlet of all-ins to win Event #84: $5,000 Super Turbo Bounty No-Limit Hold’em for $593,601.
Event #81: $800 Summer Celebration went to Toby Price who won $500,000 and his first bracelet, carrying a pair of lucky dice that his father gave him through the tournament.
And over the course of a gruelling day of action, Justin Fawcett fought very long and very hard to take down Event #83: $1,500 Double Board Bomb Pot Pot-Limit Omaha the only double board event at this year’s series.
The two events that didn’t award their bracelets were Day 1 of Event #85: $1,000 No-Limit Hold’em and Day 1c of the 2026 WSOP Main Event.
Obrestad Returns To WSOP For Day 1c of Main Event
Annette Obrestad returned to the WSOP for the first time in eight years for Day 1c of of Event #82: $10,000 WSOP Main Event NLH World Championship.
In 2007, Obrestad set a record for the youngest bracelet winner when she won the WSOPE Main Event at the age of 18. She started playing poker again earlier this year after taking a long break from the game.
Along with Obrestad, 1,573 players entered the field on Day 1c of the Main Event. The new arrivals bring the total number of entries up to 3,383 for a prize pool of $31,461,900.
Sunday’s Day 1d flight is expected to be bigger than all three previous flights combined. Plus there will be late registration running into the early stages of Day 2. So the attendance and prize pool numbers have plenty of time to ratchet up.
The chip counts from the WSOPLive App put Yulian Bogdanov at the top of the counts for the day with 315,000 in chips and Freddy Deeb was in the top ten, having bagged 267,800 for an eighth-place spot in the day’s chip counts.
Jamie Gold called shuffle up and deal for the day. Unfortunately, Gold busted out before the day was up, along with two other previous Main Event winners, Martin Jacobson and Qui Nguyen.
Some notable players who did make it through to Day 2 include Dylan Smith (205,500), Brian Hastings (178,100), Jerry Wong (158,000), Brian Rast (119,100), Jessica Teusl (116,300), and Chino Rheem (171,300).
Day 1c’s 1,166 survivors will join the 1,810 players from Day 1a and 1b for a combined Day 2abc on July 6. Play will begin at 11 a.m. local time.
Meanwhile, Day 1d kicks off at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, July 5.

Just 53 Left After Day 1 of $1k NLH Event
Day 1 of Event #85: $1,000 No-Limit Hold’em ground a field of 1,732 entries down to just 53 over the course of 22 levels of poker.
Zixuan Liu leads the field according to the WSOPLive App, having bagged a stack of 2,075,000.
Edgaras Kausinis‘s bag had 1,520,000 in it, giving him the second biggest stack, and Fahir Han bagged 1,515,000 for the third biggest.
Some of the other notables who will be returning tomorrow to play for their share of the $1,524,160 prize pool are bracelet winners Gregory Merson (1,030,000) and Lukas Pazma (580,000), as well as 25K Fantasy player Charles Phillips who finished with a stack of 900,000.
Day 2 gets underway at 11:00 a.m. local time with the blinds starting at 15,000/30,000 with a 30,000 big blind ante. This event is scheduled to play down to a winner.

What to Expect on Day 41 of the 2026 WSOP
Day 41 of the 2026 WSOP will be Sunday, July 5.
Day 1d of Event #82: $10,000 WSOP Main Event NLH World Championship is usually the biggest flight by a wide margin. As a result, there will only be two other events playing out on Day 41.
This will give the Main Event the space it needs for its massive field.
An hour before the Main Event gets underway at 11:00 a.m. local time, Event #86: $600 Ultra Stack No-limit Hold’em kicks off with a shuffle up and deal at 10:00 a.m..
The Ultra Stack is a low-stakes tournament that gives smaller bankrolls a shot at testing their strategic nous in a deep-stacked event.
The third event at the WSOP on Day 41 will consist of the Day 2 field from Event #85: $1,000 No-Limit Hold’em, returning at 11:00 a.m. to play down to a winner.
