In May, we reported on the tremendous success of “At Par”, a special promotion launched by a group of major downtown casinos in Las Vegas aimed at reversing the drop in Canadian tourists to the United States.
In only three months, the program, courtesy of Circa Resort & Casino, the D Las Vegas, and Golden Gate Hotel & Casino, gathered over 50,000 visitors from Canada, surpassing the 5,000 mark in the number of hotel bookings and $10 million spent on slot machines.
The latest numbers issued by the three venues say the Canadian dollar promotion has drawn 75,000 Canadian visitors since its official launch in January.
How Does “At Par” Work?
The promotion allows Canadian guests to receive $1 in value for every CAD 1 spent on eligible gaming, hotel stays, food, beverages, and entertainment. The offer is available through August 31, 2026.
So far, say the three properties, the promotion has resulted in over 7,500 hotel room nights while generating over $15 million in slot coin-in.
Visitors are not obliged to stay at one of the participating hotels in order to take advantage of qualifying gaming, dining, beverage, or entertainment offers.
Derek Stevens, owner and chief executive officer of the three casinos, said the response from Canadian guests has exceeded expectations.
As previously mentioned, the campaign was introduced after a noticeable drop in Canadian visits to Las Vegas. Stevens previously said the goal was to offset the impact of the exchange rate and encourage more Canadians to return to the city.
Ongoing Efforts
The decline in travel has coincided with broader shifts in Canadian travel patterns. Amid a series of trade tensions between the United States and Canada, many Canadians decided to vacation elsewhere, contributing to fewer visits to American destinations, including Las Vegas.
The casinos’ work, however, is not done, as they keep targeting Canadian travelers with special events as part of the campaign.
BarCanada at the D Las Vegas, for example, has hosted an open bar watch party for Canada’s FIFA World Cup Round of 16 match against Morocco, with guests wearing Canadian colors receiving complimentary drinks during the game.
