Lucky Texan Secures a $1M Payday
The Wednesday Powerball drawing minted a brand-new millionaire in Texas, after the player matched five of the white winning numbers, only narrowly missing the jackpot. If the lucky winner had also guessed the red Powerball, they would have been in for an unforgettable $435 million payday.
For reference, the winning Powerball numbers drawn on July 9 were 12, 29, 37, 43, and 55, plus the red Powerball 18. The Power Play multiplier for the drawing was 4x.
Speaking of Power Play, the feature helped four players win prizes of $200,000 each after each of them matched four white numbers and the Powerball. At the same time, fourteen other players won prizes of $50,000 after matching the same numbers without having Power Play active.
In the meantime, the Powerball jackpot continues to reach new heights. The game’s top prize is currently standing at $457 million with a cash value of $205 million.
Players will get another shot at the top prize this Saturday.
California Players Won Big with Powerball
The most recent Match 5 prize before the current one landed in California, where a lucky player matched the five white numbers. However, the player will likely receive a sum different from the usual $1 million due to the way California calculates lottery prizes.
This win came weeks after two other players won Match 5 prizes from the same game.
In the meantime, the Monday, July 6, Powerball drawing awarded four $100,000 prizes to players across the US. The drawing before that awarded seven such prizes.
