Lio Chi Chong has returned to the position of Acting Director at Macau’s Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau (DICJ) for the second time in under two years, stepping in after Ng Wai Han’s promotion to Secretary for Economy and Finance.
Lio, who serves as Deputy Director of the bureau, previously held the acting role starting in December 2024, when then-Director Ho Hoi Han departed to become Director General of Macau Customs.
Lio served as Acting Director of the DICJ until Ng Wai Han officially took over in May 2025, becoming the bureau’s first female director.
Ng’s term at the helm of DICJ was renewed this past May. A month later, she was named Secretary for Economy and Finance of the Macau Special Administrative Region.
The DICJ Director position has remained vacant since that date, with Lio once again stepping in to fill the gap.
Ng Wai Han’s appointment followed a nomination by Chief Executive Sam Hou Fai, with the State Council formally approving her as Secretary for Economy and Finance on June 10.
The post had been vacant since April 16, when former Secretary Tai Kin Ip resigned for personal reasons before later joining the board of Macau International Airport.
