IGT to close electronic table games division in 2027

International Game Technology (IGT) has declared that it will be closing down its electronic table games (ETG) division in 2027, as it continues to implement restructuring initiatives after going through some extreme changes in the last two years.

According to an IGT representative, this step is a consequence of the company’s main focus on “core business aims and goals for future development”.

He further explained that all current customers of the ETG will be granted support in the course of the transition.

This announcement came on the heels of the IGT merger with Everi Holdings in a $6.3 billion deal supported by Apollo Global Management in 2024 along with a reduction in workforce by about 10 percent earlier this year.

While IGT expanded its ETG portfolio over the years with electronic blackjack, baccarat and roulette and Wheel of Fortune-branded games, the segment remains one of the least profitable in terms of revenues.

The ETG market has not witnessed the kind of revenue that the traditional slot machine market has experienced in the United States, where slots have the advantage of generating revenue per square footage of casino space. Demand for ETGs has been more prevalent in European and Asian markets.
