The World Series of Poker may be in the books for another summer, but the live tournament calendar isn’t slowing down.
The Borgata Summer Poker Open powered by BetMGM Poker got underway today in Atlantic City, with the opening flights of the $600 Deep Stack Kick Off ($1M GTD) drawing players through the doors of Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa.
One of the marquee events on the schedule, the Deep Stack Kick Off has received a significant boost this year, with its guarantee jumping from $600,000 in 2025 to $1 million for this year’s edition. Six starting flights will play out through Saturday before survivors return for Day 2 on Sunday.
And it didn’t take long for the action didn’t take long to heat up.
Andino Takes the Early Chip Lead
The tournament was only midway through Level 3 when Anthony Andino found himself at the center of the biggest pot of the day so far, dragging nearly three starting stacks in a three-way cooler.
Andino was all in and at risk on the river against an early-position player and Jason Blank in the hijack. With the board reading 9♠8♠6♦K♣10♦, there was already 85,100 in the main pot.
The early-position player tabled 9♦9♣ for a flopped set, while Blank showed K♠10♠ after making top two pair to go with a missed flush draw. However, neither hand was good enough.
Andino rolled over 7♠7♣ for a rivered ten-high straight to scoop the monster pot and vault into the early chip lead.
Jason Blank
The player with the set salvaged the small 3,800-chip side pot before immediately moving all in blind under the gun on the very next deal.
Blank, left with around 30,000 after the previous hand, isolated with A♦K♥ against A♣8♦ and flopped a pair of kings to send his opponent to the rail and recover some of his losses.
