Drake’s sports bets have been the butt of Internet humor, and he has just fueled more oil into the fire. The rapper, known for his beef with Kendrick Lamar, and his proclivity for six-figure wagers, has lost a bunch of those over the past several days.
Drake Does It Again – Losses a Bunch of Sports Bets
The player had $1.5 million on Argentina to take out Spain in the World Cup Final, which saw the Europeans play a consistent and disciplined game, resulting in a hard-fought win, and for Drake – into a pricey loss.
Had he won he would have secured a $5.1 million from Stake, a website the rapper is loosely associated with, as many fo his streams and betting action takes place on the popular international gambling platform.
The loss on the World Cup Final came after a similar hefty wager on Conor McGregor to win in his return versus Max Hollway at UFC 329, but this too came short, with netizens commenting that the curse is back once again.
But it is not all that bad. The rapper did win his wager on Canada to beat SOuth Africa in the Round of 32, for example, which put him slightly ahead but not nearly close enough to cover for the overall losses from his most recent betting bonanza.
Not All Is Bad When It Comes to Drake’s Bets
Among the other notable losses for the rapper this year have been the $1-million loss on the New England Patriots to defeat the Seattle Seahawks in the Super Bowl LX, and a $300,000 bet on Jannik Sinner to beat Carlos Alcaraz at the US Open – both bets flopped.
Then again, Drake’s losses are amplified because they feed the narrative that he is truly cursed, but a closer look would reveal that Drake has nearly broken even from his public bets.
At the 2022 World Cup Final in Qatar, for example, the rapper placed another $1 million wager on Argentina to take out France, which the team did.
