Entain Parts Ways with CMO Charlotte Emery

Entain is parting ways with its chief marketing officer, Charlotte Emery, putting an end to her time with the company after two years in the position. The company is now on the lookout for her successor.

Emery Exits Entain After Two Years

According to reports, Emery’s exit from the CMO position was mutually agreed by her and the company. It comes roughly two years after she joined Entain’s C-suite in June 2024.

In the position, Emery was instrumental to a key partnership between Entain’s Ladbrokes division and Liverpool DC. She also supported a broader Coral and Ladbrokes marketing push and saw PHD onboarded as Entain’s media buying agency partner.

Bejay Patel, Entain’s managing director for the UK and Ireland, emphasized that Emery made significant contributions to the growth of Entain and its UK-facing brands, which include Coral, Foxy, Gala, and Ladbrokes. Patel described Emery as a passionate and energetic individual and wished her all the best in her future endeavors.

Before joining the Entain family, Emery spent a year and a half as an independent consultant. Before that, she had a four-year tenure at Willing Hill, occupying various marketing-related positions at the gaming company.

As a result of Emery’s exit, Entain is now on the lookout for a suitable successor, with more information to be announced at a later date.

Entain to Slash 500 Jobs

In the meantime, Entain just announced its plans to reduce its workforce by some 500 people. The business said that the layoffs are necessary in order to create a leaner and more focused Entain that is poised to generate value and tackle new challenges.

The initiative was spearheaded by Entain’s new chief financial officer, Michael Snape. Snape and Entain firmly denied the notion that the workforce reduction has been triggered by the unfavorable tax regime in the United Kingdom.

In other news, Entain recently became one of the companies in the United Kingdom that support the idea of a government-led plan to ban unlicensed gambling operators from forming sponsorship agreements with sports teams. Entain said that it believes that the government is already aware of this issue and must therefore act quickly to address it.
