The Mega Millions jackpot has survived yet another drawing, slowly creeping toward the jaw-dropping $800 million mark. While the game’s most recent drawing did not award a life-changing top prize to anyone, two players in America won seven-figure sums.
Mega Millions Players Narrowly Miss the Jackpot
The Tuesday Mega Millions jackpot was an intense one, as several players came very close to winning the game’s jackpot. The top prize stood at $707 million at the time, offering either an annuity option for the full sum, or a one-time payment of $307.7 million to a hypothetical winner. While no one matched all six winning numbers to win this nine-figure payout, two players matched five to secure seven-figure prizes.
For reference, the winning numbers drawn yesterday were 25, 37, 59, 68, and 70, plus the gold Mega Ball 10.
The aforementioned winners matched only the five white numbers. One of them, a player in California, won a 2x prize, which would normally mean a payout of $2 million. However, since California calculates prizes based on the number of tickets sold, the player will take home $7,326,642 instead. The second winner was a player in Arizona, who won a 3x prize of $3 million.
In addition to these two lucky winners, eleven players matched four white numbers plus the gold Mega Ball to win smaller prizes. This prize tier awarded the following sums:
- Three players won $20,000 each on a 2x multiplier
- Five players won $30,000 each on a 3x multiplier
- One player won $40,000 on a 4x multiplier
- Two players won $50,000 each on a 5x multiplier
In the meantime, the Mega Millions jackpot has reached $743 million with a cash option of $323.4 million. The next drawing is set to take place this Friday.
Mega Millions Crowns More Winners
The previous Mega Millions drawing did not have Match 5 winners, but awarded a total of nine prizes to players who matched four white numbers and the Mega Ball. The top winner for that drawing scooped up a prize of $50,000.
One of the earlier Mega Millions drawings for this month, however, ended up awarding not one, but three Match 5 prizes as players in Florida, New Jersey and Georgia won $2 million, $3 million, and $4 million, respectively.
