MGM China CEO Kenneth Feng Is Confident in Macau Casino’s Strategy

MGM China CEO Kenneth Feng said Macau will remain a highly competitive market but expressed confidence that MGM Macau has a stronger understanding of its customers’ evolving expectations.

Feng Said that MGM Macau Is Ready to Deliver on Customer Expectations

Feng’s comments came in response to questions about MGM China’s new promotional and reinvestment strategy. Said questions were asked during MGM’s Q2 2026 earnings call on Thursday morning after the group’s Macau entity saw margins compress to 23.3% from 27.1% a year ago.

Feng, who headed MGM China in December, 2025, said Macau would remain a competitive market, but expressed confidence that MGM can continue to provide customers the service they expect. He explained that the company’s approach is focused on delivering the right offerings to meet premium demand, emphasizing that its strategy extends beyond promotional reinvestment. Instead, MGM provides a comprehensive package combining its products, services, innovation, and promotional initiatives.

Feng also highlighted several recent projects, including suite conversions and the expansion of premium gaming space at MGM Cotai, MGM Macau’s sister resort, during the June quarter. He explained that these initiatives had been well received by premium customers. He added that MGM will continue its renovation program at MGM Macau, which includes the refurbishment of 100 suites.

He said the company’s broader strategy is centered on optimizing the yield of every gaming table, slot machine, and square foot of casino floor space, rather than focusing solely on reinvestment.

Feng also addressed market performance during and following the recent FIFA World Cup. During the event, premium gaming volumes decreased as some players redirected their discretionary spending. Feng said activity had rebounded strongly in recent weeks, surpassing even first-quarter performance levels. He attributed the recovery to pent-up demand following the duration of the soccer tournament. He noted that both visitation and business volumes had improved significantly since the second week of July, despite several matches remaining before the World Cup concluded.

Looking ahead, Feng expressed confidence that Macau would experience a strong summer season, supported by a lineup of events and concerts taking place during the month and the following month. Feng’s basis for this, it seems, is the fact that MGM recently posted strong Q2 results as a whole, giving him confidence in MGM China’s future plans.
