Six Americans Won Big
The Powerball jackpot has been growing for dozens of drawings and many players believe that a win could be imminent. Participants in the Saturday drawing were optimistic that the Mega Millions drawing would be followed by a Powerball win, but no such win happened. Despite that, the July 1 drawing was still a very eventful one as it awarded not one, but six Match 5 prizes.
The winning numbers drawn on July 1 were 6, 17, 27, 48, and 50, plus the red Powerball 5. The Power Play modifier was 3x. The jackpot for the drawing stood at $719 million with a cash option of $312.4 million.
As mentioned, six players matched all five white numbers to win Match 5 prizes. A player in Maryland and a player in Texas secured $1 million each. At the same time, three wins happened in California, although the payouts there could vary due to the way the state calculates lottery prizes.
The final Match 5 prize happened in Virginia where one lucky player who had the Power Play feature active won $2 million.
In addition to the seven-figure sums, a staggering 36 players won $50,000 each after matching four white numbers and the Powerball. An additional 7 players won $150,000 instead due to having the Power Play feature active.
Jackpot Reaches $718M
Following the Saturday drawing, the Powerball jackpot has reached $748 million. The next drawing is set to take place later today, providing players with another chance to win a life-changing sum. A hypothetical winner will have the choice between an annuitized option for the full sum or a one-time payment of $325.1 million.
The previous Powerball drawing, on the other hand, ended up awarding a prize of $1 million to a very lucky player in Maryland.
The Powerball jackpot has been won five times in 2026 so far. In the meantime, the third Mega Millions jackpot win for the year just happened.
