Powerball has experienced another eventful drawing as a lucky player grabbed a seven-figure Match 5 prize after narrowly missing the jackpot. At the same time, almost three dozen players won third-tier prizes.
Several Bigger Wins Happened, the Jackpot Survived
The Monday Powerball drawing did not result in a jackpot win, much to the dismay of everyone vying for the top prize. The winning numbers drawn on August 3 were 8, 30, 41, 48, and 54, plus the red Powerball 4. While matching all six winning numbers remained beyond reach, some players came close and were appropriately awarded for it.
For reference, the jackpot for yesterday’s drawing was $754 million. While such a spectacular win failed to materialize, one player in Wisconsin came close by matching all five white numbers to secure a Match 5 prize. Since that player had the Power Play feature active, they will take home $2 million instead of the usual $1 million.
In addition to that, some 25 players matched four white numbers and the Powerball, winning the game’s third-tier prize. Each of them is therefore eligible to claim a $50,000 payout. Nine additional players matched the same numbers but had the Power Play feature active and will therefore take home $100,000 each.
The Jackpot Has Been Won 5 Times in 2026
The Powerball top prize has landed five times in 2026. With a recent Mega Millions jackpot win happening, players are eagerly expecting a Powerball jackpot win to follow suit.
Recent drawings, however, have failed to result in a jackpot. The one that took place last Saturday, for example, resulted in six seven-figure wins. One of the winners in question had the Power Play feature active and will therefore scoop up a $2 million sum.
As it turns out, even the addition of extra players did not speed up the win. For reference, Powerball recently hit the UK, allowing local players to participate in the game for a shot at the same jackpot. This is Brits’ first opportunity to play for an uncapped jackpot.
In any case, the Powerball jackpot has now reached $786 million with a cash option of $341.6 million. The next drawing will take place this Wednesday.
