The North Carolina Education Lottery continues to create new millionaires with its games. The lottery announced that a lucky player in Montgomery County won such a sum after trusting his lucky number when choosing which ticket to buy. A few days later, a former lottery winner from Lee County struck again, this time winning an even greater prize.
Biscoe Man Secures $1M from Triple Red 777 Jackpot
The first winner was announced on July 29 and identified as Tomas Munoz of Biscoe. The lucky man bought a $10 Triple Red 777 Jackpot ticket because of his strong belief that seven is his lucky number. The man, who said that he was born on the 7th in 1977, was right to trust his luck as the ticket ended up netting him some $1 million.
For reference, the winning ticket was purchased at Candor V Mart on South Main Street in Candor.
After visiting the lottery HQ last Monday, the man decided to go with the $600,000 lump sum rather than the annuitized option of $50,000 over 20 years. After tax withholdings, he was left with $396,060.
Speaking to lottery representatives, Munoz said that he “felt emotions all over his body.” He also noted that he plans to invest the money, while continuing his job on restoring classic cars.
As of the time of the win two $1 million prizes remained in the Triple Red 777 Jackpot game.
Sanford Man Wins $1M Jumbo Bucks Prize
On August 3, the NC Education Lottery revealed Oscar Mendoza of Sanford as another winner of a seven-figure top prize. The man, who is no stranger to big wins, secured a $1 million sum from the lottery’s $10 Jumbo Bucks ticket.
According to the lottery, the winning ticket was sold at the Circle K on South Horner Boulevard in Sanford.
Mendoza visited the lottery HQ last Friday, opting to go with the $600,000 lump sum instead of the annuity of $50,000 over 20 years. After federal tax withholdings, he took home $432,063.
As mentioned, this wasn’t Mendoza’s first win as he had previously won $100,000 on a $100,000 Cash Payday scratch-off.
In the meantime, the lottery announced that the Jumbo Bucks game still features three unclaimed $1 million prizes.
