An octogenarian couple’s car left the road at Mount Airy Casino Resort and plunged into a retention pond, with the crash resulting in the death of the husband at the scene. Following the accident, another tragedy has unfolded, with the wife passing away days later, on Friday, August 7.
Two Patrons Dead Days Apart Following Fatal Crash
Jeanette Radzikowski, of Dickson City, passed away at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Muhlenberg, from blunt-force injuries sustained during the original crash on July 29, 2026.
Her husband, John Radzikowski Jr., was 82 years old, and Ms. Radzikowski was 89. He was behind the wheel at the time of the crash, with his wife riding as a passenger. The vehicle hit a rock curb before going over an embankment and landing in the retention pond.
The slope of the embankment meant the vehicle became airborne rather than sliding down toward the water, so it struck the pond surface directly instead of the impact being softened along the way.
Emergency crews responded rapidly, with the wife rushed to the hospital immediately, whereas the husband was declared dead after being recovered from the vehicle at the scene.
Authorities have not provided further details as to why the car left the roadway before striking the curb and embankment. Jeanette Radzikowski’s death has been ruled accidental by the Lehigh County Coroner’s Office, consistent with the cause of the crash itself.
