Mega Millions Jackpot Starts Building Up Again Following Recent Win

The Mega Millions jackpot is slowly building up again after the win that happened a few drawings ago. Meanwhile, the most recent drawing did not award the jackpot or a Match 5 sum but saw one player scoop up a $50,000 prize.

The Top Prize for the Drawing Was $50,000

The Friday Mega Millions drawing had players competing for a $70 million top prize with a cash option of $29.7 million. In order to win the jackpot, players had to match the five white numbers plus the gold Mega Ball. For context, the winning numbers drawn on August 7 were 17, 20, 32, 54, and 57, plus the gold Mega Ball 23.

While another jackpot win did not happen and Match 5 prizes of between $2 and $10 million failed to materialize, several players won smaller sums after matching four white numbers plus the Mega Ball.

These players won various sums depending on their multiplier, as follows:

  • One player won $20,000 (2x multiplier)
  • One player won $30,000 (3x multiplier)
  • One player won $40,000 (4x multiplier)
  • One player won $50,000 (5x multiplier)

As a result, the top prize has continued to grow, reaching $80 million for the next drawing. A hypothetical winner would be able to choose a lump sum of $34.4 million rather than the annuity option.

The next Mega Millions drawing is set to take place tomorrow, August 11, at 11 pm ET.

Mega Millions Just Awarded a Life-Changing Jackpot in Florida

As mentioned, the Mega Millions jackpot was won just a few drawings ago, awarding a life-changing $800 million prize to an extremely fortunate player in Florida. As of the time of this drawing, the winner has yet to come forward to claim their winnings.

As a result of the recent jackpot win, the recent Mega Millions drawings have been quieter, with no unforgettable wins happening. While this slowdown is to be expected, activity will most likely ramp up as the top prize grows.

In the meantime, players are eagerly anticipating the sixth Powerball jackpot for 2026 as the game’s top prize nears a billion dollars. While the Saturday drawing was not a jackpot-winning one, five Match 5 prizes happened at the same time, attesting to the high activity.
