Mega Millions Gains Traction with First Match 5 Prize Since the Recent Jackpot

The few drawings just after the recent Mega Millions jackpot win were slower, as the hype died down. However, the game is once again gaining traction as the new jackpot starts to rise.

South Carolina Player Secured $1M Payout

The Tuesday Mega Millions drawing had players competing for an $80 million jackpot with a cash value of $34.4 million. While no early miracle happened and the jackpot remained unclaimed for another drawing, one lucky player matched the five white numbers to secure a seven-figure prize.

Speaking of numbers, the winning ones for the August 11 drawing were 1, 20, 30, 48, and 68, plus the gold Mega Ball 17.

After matching the five white numbers, a player in South Carolina won a $2 million prize on a 2x multiplier. In addition to that, the drawing had four winners of five-figure sums after four players matched four white numbers and the Mega Ball. These wins were, as follows:

  • Three players won $20,000 each (2x multiplier)
  • One player won $30,000 (3x multiplier)
  • One player won $40,000 (4x multiplier)

As mentioned, the Tuesday drawing had no jackpot winners and, as a result, the prize has now reached $90 million with a cash option of $38.7 million. The next drawing is set to take place this Friday, at 11 pm ET.

Mega Millions Experienced a Few Quieter Drawings

As mentioned, the recent Mega Millions drawings were slightly slower without many big wins happening. The top prize for the previous drawing was $50,000, while the biggest winner for the one before that took home $30,000.

In the meantime, the Powerball jackpot is currently at its prime, standing at a staggering $1 billion for today’s drawing. A hypothetical winner will be able to pick the annuitized option for the full sum or the one-time lump sum payment of $433.1 million.
