White House reportedly planning meeting with crypto, prediction market executives this week

The White House is expected to host crypto and prediction market executives on Wednesday, August 19, according to people familiar with the plans.

The gathering may also include traditional finance executives, although the attendee list remains unsettled, Politico reported. President Donald Trump may also attend the meeting, according to subsequent reports, although his participation has not been officially confirmed.

Crypto and prediction markets have emerged as major areas of focus in Washington, where regulators appointed by Trump have taken steps to adopt a more innovation-friendly approach toward both industries.

The gathering is scheduled one day before the Commodity Futures Trading Commission holds the inaugural meeting of its Innovation Advisory Committee on Thursday, August 20. The panel includes executives from leading cryptocurrency, prediction market, gambling and traditional finance companies, and will discuss the regulation of crypto assets, artificial intelligence and prediction markets.

The White House meeting also comes as the crypto industry pushes for passage of the Clarity Act, a sweeping digital asset market structure bill currently pending in the Senate.

The Senate left Washington for its August recess without completing action on the legislation, with lawmakers expected to resume consideration after returning to Capitol Hill in September.
