Trust Claims $1M Ohio Lottery Scratch-off Prize

The Ohio Lottery has minted yet another millionaire after one of its player “scratched their way to $1 million.” The incredible seven-figure payout came from one of the lottery’s scratch-off tickets and was eventually redeemed by a local trust.

Ohio Lottery Player Wins $1M

According to the Ohio Lottery’s official announcement, the winner won the mouth-watering prize from the Ohio Lottery’s VIP Millions scratch-off game. Lottery officials clarified that the winning ticket was purchased at Schafer Market, located at 200 South Main St. in Fort Loramie, OH.

The prize was ultimately claimed by Alan C. Triggs, Esq., on behalf of The Championship Trust. The trust went with the one-time cash payout of $500,000 rather than the annuitized option of $40K a year for 25 years. After 26.75% required tax withholdings, The Championship Trust claimed $366,250.

For reference, the VIP Millions game that resulted in the aforementioned win is a $50 scratch-off game featuring top prizes of $40k/year for 25 years. As of August 18, when the latest win was announced, there were six top prizes up for grabs.

More Ohio Players Won Seven-Figure Sums

Ohio players have been winning big, with several high-profile lottery wins happening in the past few weeks alone. At the beginning of the month, for example, a lucky player in the Buckeye State secured a $1 million Match 5 prize from the beloved Powerball game. That win came shortly before the $1 billion Powerball jackpot was delivered.

Last month, a lucky ticket sold at a Speedway in Ohio delivered a prize of $1,000,000 to a lucky local. For reference, the win came from a $1,000,000 Stacked scratch-off ticket.

In other news, a fireman from Ohio recently came under fire after prosecutors alleged that he embezzled money from the Hambden Volunteer Fire Department to finance extensive gambling trips to the JACK Thistledown Racino in North Randall, Ohio. The man was reportedly struggling with a gambling debt.
