Developer Michael Ochoa has proposed building a new hotel-casino called Silverado about five miles south of the Las Vegas Strip, as development continues to expand along Las Vegas Boulevard.
The proposed 13.5-acre resort would be built at the northwest corner of Las Vegas Boulevard and Richmar Avenue, according to Clark County records, as reported by the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
The first phase would include 300 hotel rooms, a 57,000-square-foot casino, food and beverage outlets, entertainment and conference space. A second phase would add another 150 rooms, bringing the potential total to 450.
The project would comprise two six-story hotel buildings and a five-level parking garage, according to a county staff report.
Clark County commissioners are scheduled to consider the proposal on Sept. 2.
Land-use consultant Lucy Stewart, representing Ochoa Development Corp., described the project as a “substantial long-term investment” along that stretch of Las Vegas Boulevard and said it would contribute to the area’s “continued evolution and revitalization.”
The proposed resort would be built on a vacant site a few blocks north of Silverado Ranch Boulevard, across from the former Paradise Spa condominium complex.
The condominium property, which had a history of fires and squatting, was demolished after coming under new ownership last year. The site is now planned for a housing development.
