PhilWeb Corporation has appointed business executive Lance Y. Gokongwei as Chairman of the Board of Directors, completing a leadership transition following his recent investment in the Philippine-listed technology company.
The appointment follows Gokongwei’s ₱2.02 billion strategic equity investment and his addition to PhilWeb’s board in July 2026. The company said the leadership change marks the next stage of its plan to expand its AI-enabled technology infrastructure and strengthen its business-to-business operations.
Gokongwei, who also serves as President, CEO and Executive Director of JG Summit Holdings, will oversee PhilWeb as the company develops its enterprise technology capabilities and expands partnerships across regulated digital ecosystems.

PhilWeb Advances AI Technology Strategy
Under Gokongwei’s leadership, PhilWeb plans to accelerate the rollout of its enterprise artificial intelligence systems as it moves further into digital infrastructure services.
The company’s technology roadmap focuses on providing backend solutions for commercial operators and platform partners. PhilWeb said its AI systems will support areas such as operational monitoring, risk management, compliance automation, fraud prevention and customer data analysis.
As reported by the company via PR Newswire, President of PhilWeb Brian Ng said in a press release that Gokongwei’s appointment provides the governance structure needed for the company’s expansion plans.

PhilWeb has expanded its role as a technology provider for licensed gaming operators and integrated resorts in the Philippines. The company currently supports platforms connected with Okada Manila, Hann Casino, Newport World Resorts and NUSTAR Resort and Casino.
It has also established relationships with international content providers including Pragmatic Play and Games Global.
Leadership Change Follows Major Investment
Gokongwei’s appointment concludes PhilWeb’s recent corporate restructuring process after the businessman joined the company’s board and invested approximately ₱2 billion.
The investment came as PhilWeb increased its involvement in the Philippine online gaming sector through its role as a Gaming System Administrator. The company has recently entered agreements supporting online gaming operations connected with several major Philippine resort properties.
The company previously appointed Crisanto Roy B. Alcid as chairman and CEO. Alcid stepped down from those positions effective August 27, 2026, while remaining a member of PhilWeb’s board of directors.
Gokongwei will serve as chairman for the remainder of the current board term.
PhilWeb Targets Broader B2B Expansion
PhilWeb said the new governance structure will support its efforts to build a wider technology ecosystem connecting commercial operators, digital platforms and institutional partners.
The company describes itself as a provider of digital infrastructure, operational systems and platform technology solutions for regulated digital markets in the Philippines.
Its current strategy centers on AI-supported systems and compliance-focused technology designed for licensed operators and long-term platform development.
PhilWeb said the company’s infrastructure is intended to support complex integrations across commercial tourism properties and multinational technology partners.
The company’s expansion comes after several agreements involving gaming platforms and resort operators. Recent partnerships include support for Hann Casino Resort’s online gaming operations, Okada Manila, NUSTAR and Newport World Resorts, as well as a service agreement with FBM Philippines related to gaming machines and venues.
