Lady Luck has visited the Illinois Lottery to collect her check. You read this correctly. An anonymous winner picked the moniker Lady Luck to pose for the customary photo at the Illinois Lottery headquarters, collecting her $2,000,000 payout from a $20 instant draw game.
Lady Luck Comes to Illinois to Pick Her Million-Dollar Prize
The woman, who preferred not to be identified by her real name, had bought the $20 Illinois Lottery instant ticket at ZJ’s Pantry Plus Liquors at 699 N. Wolf Rd. in Des Plaines, Illinois, when she realized that it had brought her a seven-figure payout.
The woman was playing the $2,000,000 Maximum Multiplier Instant Ticket game, which has a $20 entry cost, and in this case, it has been worth it! Just like that, the woman managed to flip the fairly small investment into the payout of a lifetime.
“I couldn’t believe I won, especially from a store I frequent. I’ve won $10,000 in the past, but this is my first top prize,” the winner shared with the lottery. There was something different about the way it all happened, as the winner said that she would normally first go home before scratching a ticket.
Only this time, she did it the other way around. “I usually wait until I get home, but for some reason, I decided to scratch off the ticket right then and there,” Lady Luck explained.
“Just feel so blessed from this win,” she wrapped up. As to what she would do with the money, Lady Luck was fairly confident that she’d treat herself first – a trip to the Big Apple to celebrate the life-changing moment.
The Illinois Lottery Keeps the Hype for Huge Payouts Alive
As to the ZJ’s Pantry Plus Liquors, the store also has something to be happy about, as the win would mean that the venue gets the customary bonus for selling the winning ticket, 1% based on the prize amount – or $20,000.
The Illinois Lottery has seen plenty of winners recently, with another person scooping a $550,000 jackpot from the Lucky Day Lotto drawing on Monday, August 17.
A truly impressive lottery windfall occurred on August 1, when a ticket matched the numbers for the Lotto game, with a payout worth $10.25 million.
