Lost in the shuffle of all those seven-figure pots during this past weekend’s insane High Stakes Poker livestreams on PokerGO was that Eric Wasserson made a bit of history.
The high-stakes cash game grinder is now the winningest TV/livestream player ever among those who’ve won their money exclusively in ring games. Not only that, he just booked one of the most profitable weeks of livestream cash game poker in history.
Wasserson played four straight days on High Stakes Poker, winning twice and losing twice. During that run, he won the largest pot in High Stakes Poker history for over $4.2 million against Michael “Texas Mike” Moncek and profited nearly $3.3 million overall.
Dan “Jungleman” Cates, according to HighRollPoker.com, has won the most on livestreams ($14.3 million). But nearly all of those profits came in a heads-up contest against Ossi “Monarch” Ketola.
As for those who’ve nearly exclusively played in ring games, Andrew Robl entered this past weekend’s HSP games out in front lifetime with a $7.9 million profit. The high-stakes cash game legend didn’t disappoint in terms of bringing action and making gutsy plays. But he didn’t run great in many of the crucial pots, including missing a combo draw for a then-record $2,478,000 High Stakes Poker pot against Texas Mike.
Wasserson Crushes, Salomon Gets Crushed
To his credit, he did overcome some massive pots that didn’t go his way and finished the four sessions down just under $780,000. But he lost his lifetime advantage in all livestreams to Wasserson, who came into the recent streams up $6.7 million in his career, the HighRollPoker database indicates.
That number is now significantly higher and, once the leaderboard is updated, will be right at about $10 million. “Wass” showed no fear over the four nosebleed-stakes games, attempting some big bluffs and often extracting maximum value out of his strongest holdings.
Alejandro “Papo MC” Lococo was the only other player at the table who played at least three sessions and walked away a winner. The former PokerStars ambassador and Argentine freestyle rapper lost over $1 million on Saturday. But he came back the following two days and played near-flawless poker, which led to an overall win of $624,000.
Rick Salomon, he of Paris Hilton sex tape fame, couldn’t get much going during his three sessions (Saturday-Monday). He lost all three nights for a combined $2,252,000 in the red, and it shouldn’t come as a shock given he’s struggled throughout his career on High Stakes Poker.
All the big pots, wins, and losses pale in comparison to Wasserson’s hand on Monday against Texas Mike, who attempted one of the gutsiest bluffs ever with 10-high. The only problem for the two-time World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelet winner was that his opponent rivered a flush and scooped a pot worth $4,260,000, nearly $1.4 million more than the pot Texas Mike won the previous night against Robl, which was the High Stakes Poker record for a day.
Wasserson has become a TV poker superstar the past year, and especially the past few months. Between his four HSP sessions and the Million Dollar Game on Hustler Casino Live in June, he’s up $5.9 million.
