Canada’s MrYoungShark Warms Up For XL Autumn Series With a $15K Score

The 888poker XL Autumn Series is right around the corner, with the first of 41 numbered events starting on September 20. What better way to warm up for the upcoming series than by taking down a tournament for more than $15,000 just like Canada’s “MrYoungShark” did?

“MrYoungShark” became the $109 Mystery Bounty Main Event champion on September 14. They outlasted a field of 683 entrants and took home $15,371 including bounties. That is one of the lowest turnouts for this tournament since 888poker reduced the guarantee from $100,000 to $80,000.

More than half of the XL Autumn Series’ tournaments are Mystery Bounty events, which suggests there could be plenty of value to be had if mystery bounty tournaments are your thing.

$80,000 Mystery Bounty Main Event Final Table Results

“MrYoungShark” sat down at the eight-handed final table with the chip lead, their 2,951,018 chips worth 74 big blinds, more than double the amount of “PokerStrive” in second place.

Only four big blinds separated “kojgysto888” (29 big blinds) in third from “BigFish20” (25) in seventh, with New Zealand’s “3pokeronly” bringing up the rear with 13 big blinds.

“BigFish20” was the only finalist not to collect at least four figures from the $80,000 prize pool. They came unstuck in eighth place and walked away with $907 for their efforts.

Romania’s “sugarrush2” and Ukraine’s “Dimiasikk888” were the next to fall. They scooped $1,107 and $1,903, respectively, after being sent to the showers early into the final table proceedings.

Then came the elimination of “3pokeronly,” who was the shortest stack at the start of the final table. They managed to ladder to a fifth-place finish worth $1,637.

The next payout was almost double what the fifth-place finishers collected. “PokerStrive” walked away with $3,172 after they crashed and burned in fourth, with Denmark’s “kojgysto888” taking home $3,680 after they came unstuck in third.

Heads-up saw “MrYoungShark,” who had already accumulated more than $8,000 in bounties, take o Lithuanian “MantynisNA” for the title and the largest slice of the regular prize pool. The Canadian got the job done, meaning their total take-home pay weighed in at $15,371, while the runner-up secured a $6,027 payout.
