What’s Next for the Playtech Live Casino Revolution?

Major game provider Playtech has further expanded its live casino operations with a groundbreaking deal, this time with Hippodrome Casino in London.

Playtech, which was founded in 1999, launched ‘Live from London‘ this week, which brings live casino games worldwide that are broadcast directly from the casino floor at the Hippodrome.

What Does the Playtech x Hippodrome Deal Mean?

Playtech’s new partnership with Hippodrome will see various casino games, including blackjack, roulette and baccarat streamed directly from the prestigious London casino. Players worldwide will then be able to play ‘live’ versions of the games through their screens, bringing some of the illustrious heritage of the Hippodrome to online play.

Variations of roulette, such as Dual Roulette and Studio Core Roulette, will also be available. More games are expected to be added to the ‘Live from London’ portfolio in future.

Summary

  • Playtech is a major games provider, and has teamed up with the famous Leicester Square casino, the Hippodrome.
  • The partnership means Playtech will offer live casino games (under the brand ‘Live from London’), broadcast directly from the casino floor.
  • Games that will be streamed currently include roulette, baccarat and blackjack.

This isn’t the first time Playtech, traditionally an online game provider, has delved into the live casino world.

In June 2024, Playtech teamed up with MGM Resorts International to launch live online casino gaming from the iconic floors of MGM Grand and the Bellagio.

This initial service streamed live roulette and baccarat, making the games available to operators and players in regulated markets outside the US.

The partnership expanded further in 2025 with a 24/7 glass-walled studio on the MGM Grand casino floor. It also introduced Family Feud Live from Vegas, which Playtech described as the first interactive game show broadcast live from a Vegas casino floor.

What Does This Mean for the Future of Online Gaming?

Playtech’s expansion from Las Vegas to London suggests that recognizable casino destinations could become a bigger part of the live casino industry.

Instead of games being broadcast from generic, purpose-built studios, players can experience tables streamed directly from some of the most famous casino floors in the world. It brings more authenticity to online play.

The biggest impact, though, might be how land-based casinos market themselves. Live casino streams provide an opportunity to turn their physical venues and brands into digital products capable of reaching players worldwide.

With Playtech now operating its “Live From” concept from two major gambling destinations, the next question is whether other famous gambling locations could follow. Could we see live casino games being broadcast from Monaco, Macau and Atlantic City in the near future?
