Vegas is an oasis in the middle of the Mojave Desert, complete with pyramids, chariots, mummies, and even Cleopatra! Right now there are several Egyptian themed Las Vegas attractions and exhibits that you can explore and enjoy, but only for a limited time. And what better place to begin our video than the most Egyptian resort in Sin City… the Luxor! Just head for the giant pyramid on the south end of the Strip, and turn right at the replica of the Great Sphinx!
That’s where you’ll find Discovering King Tut’s tomb, an immersive exhibition with over 500 recreated pieces including Tutankhamun’s golden sarcophagus, and a full scale exact replica of the tomb itself. Enjoy this fully narrated, 60-minute walkthrough sooner rather than later, because discovering King Tut’s tomb is scheduled to close in August of next year. And did you know that Luxor is still a real city in Egypt? It’s true! However, these days it’s more of a glitzy tourist trap… which, ironically, the Luxor Hotel perfectly recreates in Nevada!
Next up, Caesars is currently celebrating their 60th anniversary, and I understand that Julius and Cleopatra used to be quite an item! To that end, you may enjoy our next of the Egyptian themed Las Vegas attractions: The Caesar’s anniversary experience, featuring the golden statue that once sat at the bow of Cleopatra’s barge and floating lounge. This display is more about the resort than ancient Egypt, but you can still check out the vintage props and original Egyptian costumes worn by the staff since the resort opened in 1966. Plus, of course, the amazing golden Cleopatra statue. But you better hurry. The 60th anniversary experience at Caesar’s Palace only runs from now through December 31st.
And after a busy day of exploring tombs, and checking out some well-endowed golden statues, you could spend your evenings running from mummies when you visit the Monster Quest escape rooms! Step into an ancient Egyptian tomb right off the Strip with the Curse of the Mummy! Search for a missing archaeologist, decipher hieroglyphics, and break a dark ritual before time runs out in this immersive 60-minute adventure. Located just off the north end of the Strip, not too far from the STRAT.
Finally, this week, our last of the Egyptian themed Las Vegas attractions can be found in North Vegas, just minutes from Fremont Street, at the Natural History Museum and their Treasures of Egypt exhibit.
