Mystery Kid Wins €3,000 EPC High Roller for €110,300

Poker isn’t a physical sport per se, but that doesn’t mean endurance isn’t an important factor for aspiring champions. The Israeli poker player who goes by Mystery Kid proved that today, as he won the €3,000 EPC High Roller at the King’s Million European Poker Championship after a gruelling 19-hour final day.

It wasn’t Mystery Kid’s first time in the spotlight at King’s Resort this week, as he had already finished runner-up in the €250 Mini Main Event, taking home €76,500. However, he improved on that score in the High Roller, as he defeated a field of 152 entries and won the top prize of €110,300, the largest share of the slightly overlayed €500,000 prize pool.

Winner’s Reaction

“I feel very excited,” Mystery Kid stated after he had defeated Romanian grinder Mihai Tabac heads-up and was awarded the King’s Royal Scepter as a trophy. “It’s an amazing feeling to win the High Roller with all the best players in King’s.”

The extreme length of the day proved no issue for Mystery Kid. In fact, he shared that it might have helped him win the tournament. “My mental is very good, and I am good with this long tournament. I play lots of times long tournaments, and I feel good. I feel an edge, and I have a good mentality. I’m not tired, and that’s important in this tournament.”

Mystery Kid Steals the Show

Mystery Kid started Day 2 as one of the bigger stacks, and he remained near the top of the counts for the majority of the early proceedings. After Thuy Kieu had departed as the bubble girl in 24th place, Mystery Kid slipped to the middle of the pack, but thanks to winning a big pot against Jakub Sterba just before the final table, Mystery Kid regained his position at the top, and he began the final table as the chipleader.

However, when seven players remained, Mystery Kid‘s pocket aces were cracked by MajikMike‘s king-six suited in a preflop confrontation. He was left as one of the shortest stacks at the table, but commenced his comeback by winning a flip against Paul Runcan. Runcan was eventually knocked out in fifth, and Mystery Kid reclaimed the chip lead shortly after, having half the chips in play after eliminating coolstorybro in fourth place.

Every time the other players seemed to be catching up, Mystery Kid pulled away again. Both MajikMike and Tabac did what they could, but there was no stopping Mystery Kid today. MajikMike fell in third place to the eventual champion, allowing him to start the heads-up with a two-to-one chip advantage. Tabac rallied a comeback, even briefly taking the lead, but Mystery Kid soon had his opponent on the ropes again. On the final hand of the tournament, Tabac bluffed all in with eight-high, and Mystery Kid found a call with an overpair to the board, securing the pot and thus the tournament.

That concludes the coverage for the EPC High Roller, but the King’s Million EPC is far from over. Day 1c of the €1,150 Super Main Event started just an hour after the High Roller had concluded, and the PokerNews team is on the floor to provide an extensive live report, so make sure to check it out.
