Peru: Mincetur blocks 50 unauthorized betting platforms

Peru’s Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur), through the General Directorate of Casino Games and Slot Machines (DGJCMT), has blocked 50 technology platforms offering remote gaming and sports betting that were providing services to users without the required authorization.

According to the ministry, 86 technology platforms operating informally have now been blocked, out of a total of 157 platforms targeted for blocking by the end of 2026.

The action was carried out by the DGJCMT in coordination with the Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC), with the aim of enforcing Law No. 31,557, which regulates the operation of the sector.

As part of its online gambling enforcement efforts, authorities have also secured the removal of gaming content and payment methods linked to websites operating without the required authorization. The measures have directly affected the operational and financial capacity of unauthorized operators, according to the ministry.

The authorities said the enforcement operations have reduced the illegal online and remote gaming offering by more than 50%.

The latest actions also include the seizure of sports betting equipment operating clandestinely at a venue in the district of Chilca, in the Junín region. The operation was jointly carried out by Mincetur, the National Police of Peru (PNP) and the Public Prosecutor’s Office.

To date, Mincetur has ordered the closure of 17 sports betting venues and 10 slot machine halls. It has also carried out 5,195 inspections at slot machine and casino gaming venues, as well as 4,572 inspections of technology platforms and betting venues.

Meanwhile, the DGJCMT maintains a database of approximately 2,000 domains compiled from lists of websites considered illegal or unauthorized by authorities in other countries. The database is used as a reference when searching for illegal platforms.

Mincetur said the actions reaffirm its commitment to the formalization of the sector.
