Season 2 of Hellmuth’s Home Game presented by Poker Night in America (PNIA) and sponsored by BetRivers is now airing on CBS Sports on Monday nights.
The nationally televised show, which was filmed at the Grand Sierra Resort in Reno, Nevada, is unique in that there is no commentary. Instead, the show is carried by table talk from Phil Hellmuth alongside a cast of fellow pros and friends in an intimate, relaxed cash game setting.
PokerNews watched Episode 2 of Season 2 and compiled a recap of some of the biggest hands and interesting storylines.
Here’s how things stacked up at the start of the episode:
| Seat | Player | Stack | Profit |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | DJ Washburn | $20,000 | -$20,000 |
| 2 | Dan “Jungleman” Cates | $31,175 | +$11,175 |
| 3 | Ethan “Rampage” Yau | $40,900 | +$15,900 |
| 4 | Phil Hellmuth | $3,025 | -$1,975 |
| 5 | 24kGolden | $8,875 | -$1,125 |
| 6 | Steven Jones Jr. | $12,025 | -$2,975 |
| 7 | Phillip “P3” Hellmuth III | $4,000 | -$1,000 |
The game was played with $25/$50 blinds with a $50 big blind ante. Here’s a look at some of the biggest hands from the episode.
P3 vs. 24kGolden

In the first hand of the episode, 24kGolden raised to $300 with the 9♠9♦ in the cutoff and Steven Jones Jr. called next to act with the 7♠7♦. Phillip “P3” Hellmuth III was the third player in a row to wake up with a pocket pair, and he three-bet to $900 with his Q♥Q♣.
Action folded back to 24kGolden, who moved all in for $9,400. Jones got out of the way and P3 called off for $3,900 total to create a $5,300 pot. The two agreed to run it twice, and 24kGolden was looking to get lucky.
Unfortunately for him, that didn’t happen as the J♣7♣A♦6♥6♦ runout on the first and Q♠2♥4♦A♣J♦ on the second both missed him. Ship the double to P3.
24kGolden Flops Big

24kGolden raised to $150 from under the gun with the 10♠9♠ and Jones three-bet to $450 with the A♣K♦ next to act. DJ Washburn came along from the cutoff with the 8♥8♦, and action folded back to 24kGolden, who called and hit the K♥9♣9♦ flop big.
24kGolden led out for $300, Jones just called, and Washburn came along to see the 6♥ turn. 24kGolden coyly checked, Jones bet $1,200 with his two pair, and Washburn got out of the way. 24kGolden check-raised all in for $2,400 total and Jones called the additional $1,200.
They ran it just once and the 5♦ river was safe for 24kGolden, who doubled to $7,175.
Cates Straight Flushes Rampage

Cates raised to $200 from the hijack with the 5♣3♣ only to have Ethan “Rampage” Yau three-bet to $600 next to act with the A♥J♠. Action folded back to Dan “Jungleman” Cates and he called to see the flop, which came down 4♠A♣4♣.
Cates checked his gutshot straight flush draw and Rampage continued for $400 with two pair. Cates woke up with a check-raise to $1,600, Rampage called, and the J♥ appeared on the turn. Cates kept the pressure on with a bet of $4,600 and Rampage, who improved to aces and jacks, called to create a $13,725 pot headed to the river.
The 2♣ gave Cates the straight flush and he kept the pressure on with a bet of $11,500. Rampage thought for several minutes before making the call, only to watch the $36,725 Pot pushed to Jungleman.
Hellmuth Pays Off 24kGolden

Action folded to Hellmuth in the small blind and he limped with the A♣J♠. 24kGolden then raised to $300 from the big with the K♦J♠ and Jones called from the straddle with the 9♠8♥. Hellmuth came along and it was three-way action to the flop of 10♣Q♠A♦.
Hellmuth checked top pair and 24kGolden, who flopped the buts, bet a platry $200. Jones folded, Hellmuth called, and then both players checked the 7♥ turn.
Hellmuth checked for the third time on the 2♦ river and 24kGolden bet another $200. Hellmuth check-raised to $600 and 24kGolden quickly made it $2,000 to go. Hellmuth thought for a bit before calling, only to have 24kGolden roll over Broadway and claim the $5,350 pot.
“I Shouldn’t Have Bet”

24kGolden called $200 from the cutoff with the 10♣9♣ and Jones came along from the button with the J♠10♠. Cates looked down at the A♥6♥ in the first straddle and made it $1,200 to go, which prompted 24kGolden to fold.
Jones called and it was heads-up action to the 9♠8♣10♥ flop, which saw Cates check and Jones bet $1,100. Cates called with his gutshot and backdoor draws, and then checked the 5♠ turn. Jones checked behind and the 7♠ appeared on the river to give Cates a ten-high straight, which prompted him to bet $1,500.
Jones improved to a runner-runner flush and wasted little time in raising to $6,000.
“I shouldn’t have bet,” said Cates as he hit the tank. “I realize how stupid that was.”
Eventually he called only to see the $17,275 pot pushed to Jones.
Here’s how things looked at the end of the episode.
