Player in California Wins $2.3M from Powerball

A lucky ticket-holder in California has become the latest player in the state to win a seven-figure prize from the Powerball game. While the lucky individual narrowly missed the jackpot, they will take home almost $2.3 million.

A Big Prize for a Lucky Californian

The Saturday Powerball drawing had the top prize set at $519 million with a cash option of $212.9 million. While no jackpot winners emerged, several players did manage to win noteworthy prizes after matching almost all winning numbers.

In terms of winning numbers, the ones drawn on October 10, 2026, were 1, 4, 19, 33, and 51, plus the red Powerball 15. The Power Play multiplier, on the other hand, was 2x.

The biggest winner of that drawing was a lucky player in California who won a Match 5 prize after matching all five white numbers. While such a win usually entails a prize of $1 million, California’s lottery rules base the prize money on the number of tickets sold. According to the California Lottery’s own announcement, the winner will take home $2,259,918.

The Saturday Powerball drawing also had 22 players who matched four white numbers plus the Powerball. Eighteen of them took home $50,000 each, while four others had the Power Play feature active, netting them $100,000 each instead. As it turns out, however, one of the Match 4 + Powerball wins also happened in California. Based on the number of tickets sold, the winner will take home $55,740.

The Jackpot Continues to Grow

In the meantime, the Powerball jackpot has reached $538 million for the drawing set to take place later today (Monday, October 12). If a win does end up happening, the winner will be presented with a choice between the annuity option for the full sum and the one-time lump sum option of $220.6 million.

In other Powerball news, a lucky player in Louisiana recently won a $2 million Match 5 + Power Play prize from Powerball. The win came from the October 5 drawing and was the latest in a chain of several consecutive drawings with Match 5 winners. The following one, however, did not have a Match 5 winner. The silver lining was that it helped the Powerball jackpot finally hit the $500 million milestone, meaning that the next winner would be in for a treat of at least half a billion dollars.
