In March, casino game provider Hacksaw Gaming announced the introduction of Hacksaw Ventures, a fresh iGaming “investment and acceleration” division looking to support early-stage companies interested in reshaping the gaming ecosystem.
Now, the group has another exciting announcement: the launch of a business-to-business (B2B) prediction markets platform, aimed at expanding beyond its established gaming technology business.
The decision comes in the context of the rising interest in event-based trading. The company has already obtained the necessary approval from the Malta Gaming Authority (MGA) to extend its current license to cover B2B peer-to-peer prediction market services.
What the New Platform Brings
The new platform is designed to help online gaming operators introduce prediction markets without having to actually develop or maintain the technology themselves.
What this means is they can use Hacksaw’s infrastructure, distribution network, as well as existing integrations, while maintaining control of their brands, customer relationships, and user experience.
The MGA has decided to extend Hacksaw’s B2B Critical Gaming Supply License to include Type 3 Gaming Services, in parallel with its existing Type 1 authorization.
The green light enables the company to offer B2B peer-to-peer prediction market services within the MGA regulatory framework.
$1 Trillion Projections by 2030
Prediction markets enable participants to trade on the likelihood of a future event taking place, and they cover a vast selection of topics.
So far, the sector has attracted a lot of growing attention, with global equity research and brokerage firm Bernstein estimating that annual trading volumes could reach approximately $1 trillion by 2030.
Hacksaw aims to establish a position in the sector by providing the technology and infrastructure behind these offerings rather than operating a consumer-facing platform of its own.
“Prediction markets represent a compelling new opportunity at the intersection of technology, entertainment and market participation,” said Ana Vrabic Verdir, group chief executive officer of Hacksaw Group.
She added that the company’s existing platform, distribution capabilities and operator relationships could help it expand into the category and create long-term value for customers, partners and shareholders.
Shared Network Designed to Support Operators
One of the platform’s main features is a connected volume framework intended to bring together peer-to-peer participation across Hacksaw’s network of operators.
For operators entering the market, attracting enough participants can be a challenge. By connecting activity across its network, Hacksaw aims to give partners access to a broader pool of participation from launch, rather than requiring each operator to build its own volume independently.
The company also plans to draw on its existing technology, commercial relationships and development team to support the expansion within its current cost base.
Marcus Cordes, Hacksaw Gaming’s operational chief executive officer, said the platform would let operators access prediction market capabilities more efficiently by using the technology and commercial infrastructure the company has developed over several years.
The launch marks another step in Hacksaw’s efforts to expand into adjacent digital gaming categories. Its ability to build on existing operator relationships could give it a route into the prediction markets sector, although the platform’s commercial performance and adoption among operators remain to be seen.
The company said the launch reflects its strategy of extending its technology ecosystem into new areas where its existing infrastructure and distribution capabilities can support further growth.
