The Stakes Grow Higher as Powerball Jackpot Reaches $674M for the Saturday Drawing

The Powerball jackpot has continued to grow, with estimates putting the Powerball jackpot at almost $700 million, as the Saturday drawing looms. In the meantime, the Wednesday drawing just created three Match 5 winners in America.

Three Players Won Seven-Figure Sums from Powerball

The Wednesday drawing saw three simultaneous Match 5 wins happen as three players in three different states matched all five white numbers but not the Powerball. While the trio narrowly missed the jackpot, each player is now eligible to redeem a seven-figure prize.

According to Powerball’s announcement, one of the big winners was a lucky player in New Jersey who won $1 million. The other two players had the Power Play feature active, resulting in two $2 million Match 5 + Power Play wins. These two prizes went to players in Ohio and Pennsylvania.

For reference, the winning numbers for the October 21 Powerball drawing were 1, 21, 44, 50, and 57, plus the red Powerball 5. The Power Play multiplier was 2x. If anyone had matched all six numbers, they would have been in for a $639 million payout (or $269 million if they had chosen the lump sum option).

In addition to the three Match 5 wins, ten players matched four white numbers plus the Powerball, which netted them tier-three prizes. Six of those players took home $50,000 each, while the remaining four won $100,000 each, thanks to Power Play.

Powerball Jackpot Reaches $674M

Since the Powerball jackpot remained unclaimed, it continued to grow, reaching almost $700 million. Current estimates put the top prize at $674 million and the prize’s cash value at $283.9 million.

Players will get another shot at the top prize tomorrow, October 24, when the next drawing is set to take place.

In the meantime, Powerball has been dishing out Match 5 prizes on a regular basis, with one of the most recent ones happening earlier this week, when a player in Michigan won $1 million from the game. Before that, a $1 million sum went to a player in Maryland.

In addition, players in the UK have also been winning a fair share of Match 5 prizes ever since the game launched there. The most recent seven-figure prize to be won in Great Britain was a $1 million payout that came from the October 12 drawing.
