Infingame has identified achievement, competition, and anticipation as three key motivations behind casino engagement, arguing that operators should use different promotional mechanics to address each.
The iGaming aggregator also linked these motivations to three tools it offers: Challenges for achievement, Tournaments for competition, and Jackpots for anticipation. It said operators should focus not on the number of promotions they run but on the different reasons they give players to engage.
“The distinction matters because players do not all respond to the same incentive. A task-based mechanic creates a clear sense of progress, but it does not reproduce the suspense of playing towards an unpredictable high-value event,” the company explained. “For operators, this means engagement should be treated as a portfolio rather than a single mechanic repeated across the entire player base.”
Infingame’s Challenges tool turns gameplay into defined objectives, such as completing a required number of spins or wins. Operators can adjust difficulty and use campaigns to direct players towards specific games.
Unlike tournaments, Challenges do not require players to outperform others. Instead, completion triggers the reward, creating a progression-based mechanic that operators can use for game discovery, reactivation, and activity during quieter periods. The format follows a cycle of setting an objective, tracking progress, completing the task, and receiving a reward.
Infingame’s Tournaments tool uses time-limited events, leaderboards, and rewards to encourage players to compete against one another. The platform supports five tournament mechanics: Bet Race, Win Race, Multiplier Race, Highest Multiplier and Highest Win. Operators can use these formats to target different player behaviours.
Additional features include Happy Hours, player segmentation, branded creative, monetary and non-monetary rewards, free spins, optional wagering requirements, and automated payouts.
“This flexibility makes competition particularly valuable when an operator wants to create event-like activity, increase repeat visits during a campaign or bring a community dimension to otherwise individual gameplay,” Infingame said.
Jackpots use the possibility of a high-value outcome to encourage engagement, rather than a predefined task or leaderboard position. Infingame’s Jackpot Chance mechanic allows operators to offer a self-funded jackpot across selected casino games from different providers. Participating players can place an optional fixed side bet alongside their regular game bet.
The mechanic has four jackpot tiers — Grand, Major, Minor and Mini — and three participation levels: 1x, 2x and 10x. These options give players different levels of participation in the jackpot feature while continuing to play the underlying games.
The mechanic adds a potential jackpot outcome across a selection of games without tying it to a single provider or title, Infingame said.
Infingame said Challenges, Tournaments, and Jackpots serve different purposes and should not be treated as interchangeable promotional formats.
“There is no universal engagement mechanic because there is no universal reason why players engage,” said Dmytro Kryvorchuk, COO at Infingame. “Some respond to progress and the satisfaction of completing a goal, others to competition, while for others it is anticipation that keeps the experience exciting.”
“For operators, the real opportunity is not choosing one mechanic over another, but building an engagement mix that can activate different motivations at different moments.”
The company said operators can apply the mechanics to the same game portfolio for different purposes. Challenges can introduce players to new titles, Tournaments can turn multiple games into competitive events, and Jackpots can add an anticipation-based feature across games from different providers.
Infingame said this approach shifts casino engagement from isolated promotions towards a broader strategy in which different mechanics serve specific player motivations and campaign objectives.
