Cibelae to hold 2024 conference in Buenos Aires this week

The Iberoamerican Corporation of State Lotteries and Gambling (Cibelae) will kick off the Cibelae 2024 Conference this week, to be held on April 18 and 19 in Buenos Aires, with a Welcome Dinner slated for tomorrow (April 17) at 8:30 p.m. at the Sofitel Recoleta Hotel in Buenos Aires.

The main theme of the meeting will be “Sports Betting in Latin America: approaches to a developing market”, and it will have the active collaboration of the Council of Europe (COE) and United Lotteries for Integrity in Sports (ULIS).

Among the confirmed participants are the president of the World Lottery Association (WLA), Rebecca Paul; the assistant secretary of Prizes and Gambling of Brazil’s Ministry of Finance, Simone Vicentini; the president of Costa Rica’s Social Protection Board (JPS), Esmeralda Britton González; as well as the president of El Salvador’s National Charity Lottery (LNB) and president of Cibelae, Javier Milián.

Also in attendance will be the general director of Mexico’s National Lottery (Lotenal), Marco Antonio Mena Rodríguez; the president of Paraguay’s National Gaming Commission (Conajzar), Carlos Liseras Osorio; the vice-president of Loterias CAIXA of Brazil, Lucíola Aor Vasconcelos; the superintendent of Chile’s Gaming Casinos, Vivien Villagrán; and the president director of the Lottery of the State of Paraná (Lottopar), Daniel Romanowski.

In addition, Francisco Petrônio de Oliveira Rolim, executive secretary of Public-Private Partnerships of the Paraíba State Government, representing Loteria do Estado da Paraíba (LOTEP); Hazenclever Lopes Cançado, president of Rio de Janeiro State Lottery (Loterj); Luca Esposito, executive director of the WLA; and Jesús Acevedo, president of Loteria de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires (Lotba), have also confirmed their presence.

Cibelae highlighted that the conference “seeks to reflect the growing relevance and dynamism of sports betting in the region, with an approach that will not only address the opportunities presented by the market but also the challenges and key strategies for the sustainable development of the activity.”
