The race for the Mega Millions jackpot is getting really heated with the game’s top prize now exceeding the $600 million threshold. While the most recent drawing did not award a jackpot or a Match 5 prize, the sheer size of the top prize is sure to guarantee a lot of thrill during the upcoming drawings.
One Player Secured a $100K Payout
The Tuesday Mega Millions drawing did not award a big winner, as players strove to win the $576 million jackpot. A hypothetical winner would have been able to take the annuity option for the full sum or the one-time lump sum of $253.9 million.
However, no one managed to nail the winning combination to secure such a win. For reference, the winning numbers drawn on July 7 were 2, 31, 35, 36, and 63, plus the gold Mega Ball 12.
Matching only the five white numbers would have resulted in a five-figure windfall, but no one was that lucky either. Instead, six players matched four white numbers plus the gold Mega Ball to win various sums depending on their multiplier. The wins were as follows:
- 2 players won $20,000 (2x multiplier)
- 1 player won $30,000 (3x multiplier)
- 1 player won $40,000 (4x multiplier)
- 1 player won $50,000 (5x multiplier)
- 1 player won $100,000 (10x multiplier)
The jackpot has now reached $604 million with a cash option of $266.3 million. The next drawing is set to take place Friday, July 10, at 11 pm ET.
PA Player Won $3M from Mega Millions
In other news, a lucky player in Pennsylvania recently won $3 million from the game after matching the five white numbers for an earlier drawing. He was the only player to truly come close to winning the jackpot in that drawing.
The Mega Millions jackpot has yet to be won a third time this year. The two wins for 2026 both took place in March, within a few days of one another. One of these wins saw a lucky player win $536 million, and saw the other another player take home $60 million.
In the meantime, the Powerball jackpot is also nearing the half-a-billion-dollar mark. It has yet to be seen which of the two nine-figure sums would be the first to land.
