Sky River Casino has reached several major construction milestones in the development of its new resort hotel in Elk Grove, California, with work progressing from site preparation and foundation works to vertical construction.
Crews completed the foundation pour for the hotel’s West Tower on June 24, following excavation, grading and the installation of reinforcing steel and formwork. A total of 1,500 cubic yards of concrete was poured to create the base of the tower.
Construction of the West Tower’s superstructure began on June 25. The work includes the installation of columns and beams, followed by floor slabs and additional levels as the building rises.
The foundation pour for the East Tower was completed on July 6, allowing construction to move forward across both hotel towers.
The two towers form part of Sky River Casino’s wider expansion project, which includes a 300-room hotel designed to complement the property’s existing gaming, dining and entertainment offering.
Once completed, the hotel is expected to become the largest in Elk Grove. The project also includes a resort-style outdoor pool, a full-service spa and salon, and a multi-purpose event and entertainment venue.
The expansion will also add enhanced high-limit gaming and VIP areas.
“Joining the team at this stage of construction is a privilege and a unique opportunity to help shape the future of this resort,” said Holland Tudor, Vice President of Hospitality at Sky River Casino.
“This is a chance for us to define everything from the guest experience to the team that will bring it to life each day. We’ll continue to provide updates on construction progress as our shared vision comes to life.”
Construction has also begun on the foundations of the resort’s low-rise buildings, which will house a range of guest-facing and operational facilities.
According to the company, visitors currently spend an average of 2.4 days in Elk Grove, while approximately 80% stay overnight. Sky River Casino expects the hotel project to increase the city’s accommodation supply by more than 40%.
Construction is set to continue over the coming months as the development moves towards completion.
