A lucky player from Brooklyn has won a mouth-watering $3 million prize from one of the New York Lottery’s scratch-off tickets. The winner later visited the lottery HQ to claim her winnings, opting to take the one-time lump sum payment.
Christiane Butcher of Brooklyn Won $3M
On July 14, the New York Lottery announced that a lucky player had won a $3 million top prize from one of the lottery’s scratch-off games. The winner was revealed as Christiane Butcher of Brooklyn.
Lottery officials clarified that Butcher won her life-changing prize from the New York Lottery’s 100Xtra scratch-off game. The $3 million prize is notably the largest prize one could hope to win from the game.
After visiting the lottery HQ, Buther walked out with a $1,242,851 lump sum payment (after required withholdings), rather than the annuitized option for the full sum.
The New York Lottery clarified that the winning ticket was purchased at Hanson Newsstand located at 37 Hanson Place in Brooklyn. It also stated that the 100Xtra game contains three more top prizes that have yet to be won.
More Players Who Won Big
Last month, the New York Lottery also revealed a lucky player who claimed a life-changing seven-figure prize of $3 million from one of its scratchers. Just like Butcher, that winner also went with the one-time lump sum payment.
More recently, a woman won $50,000 from the Maryland Lottery’s Pick 5 game after using her late brother’s numbers. The winner maintained their anonymity and was only referred to as Porky. Her friends were reportedly so excited about her win that they also wished to give the lottery a shot more often.
