The biggest mistake came on the river, but the first one happened preflop. Calling the 3-bet with Q♥T♣ never should have happened. Once the hero called, the mistakes just snowballed. When you open and face a squeeze, offsuit bottom-of-range hands are the first to fold. They play terribly in 3-bet pots, and even some of villain’s bluffing hands have you dominated.
The turn was a tougher spot than it looked. A 142% pot bet should trigger every alarm in your head. One good rule: when villain has clear value hands in his range and it’s very difficult to find bluffs, folding is often right. Especially vs overbets.
By the river, the only play is to cut your losses. If he’s running the bluff of the century, tip your hat. Sometimes you just tap the table and say nice hand when he windmills a bluff in your face.
