Jennifer Tilly Runs Roughshod Over Table on Latest Hellmuth’s Home Game

Hellmuth’s Home Game presented by Poker Night in America (PNIA) and sponsored by BetRivers is once again airing on CBS Sports on Monday nights.

The nationally televised show, which was filmed at the Grand Sierra Resort in Reno, Nevada, is unique in that there is no commentary. Instead, the show is carried by table talk from Phil Hellmuth alongside a cast of fellow pros and friends in an intimate, relaxed cash game setting.

PokerNews watched Episode 30, a continuation from the week before, and compiled a recap of some of the biggest hands and interesting storylines.

Here’s how things stacked up at the start of the episode:

The game was played with $25/$50 blinds with a $50 big blind ante. Here’s a look at some of the biggest hands from the episode.

Fireworks in First Hand

In the first hand of the episode, Dan “Jungleman” Cates raised to $150 from the cutoff with the A♠K♦ and action folded to Jennifer Tilly in the big blind. She looked down at the A♥Q♦ and three-bet to $500, which prompted Cates to quickly four-bet to $1,500.

“I don’t want to go crazy,” said Tilly, who ordered another bottle of wine from the waitress before calling and seeing a flop of 9♦A♣J♥

Tilly check-called a bet of $1,300, and the 10♦ turn gave her a straight draw to go with her top pair. She check-called another bet, this time $3,000, and then checked in the dark headed to the river, which was the 6♥.

Cates put out a pot-sized bet by tossing out $12,500, and Tilly thought long and hard before making the call. Cates tabled his top pair, top kicker, and took down a pot worth $36,675.

Jungleman Stacks Nick Hellmuth

Cates raised to $250 from early position with the K♥K♣ and Tilly called from the button holding the A♠4♦. Nick Hellmuth came along from the small blind with the A♣J♦, Erick Lindgren from the big with the 7♣5♦, and it was four-way action to the flop, which came down Q♥6♠J♣.

Nick led out for $400 with middle pair, Lindgren folded, and Cates raised to $1,500. Tilly got out of the way, and Nick moved all in for $7,725. Cates snap-called, and the two agreed to run it twice on the $16,600 pot.

The 9♠ turn and 7♠ river on the first run locked up half the pot for Jungleman, and the 4♥ turn and 3♥ river on the second allowed Cates to scoop. Meanwhile, Nick exited the game, but not before giving his dad a hug.

Tilly Kicks Deeb

Phil Hellmuth raised to $300 from the hijack with the 10♠9♠, and Tilly called from the cutoff holding the K♠J♣. Shaun Deeb then three-bet to $1,200 from the small blind with the K♣10♣, both Hellmuth and Tilly called, and the flop fell 7♦5♣K♥.

Deeb continued for $900, Hellmuth folded, and Tilly called to see the Q♦ turn. Deeb bet again, this time $3,000, and Tilly raised it to $10,000. Deeb responded by moving all in, and Tilly called off the $6,700 she had behind to create a $39,000 pot.

They ran it only once, and the 9♦ river was a brick to Deeb, who watched the pot pushed to the 2005 WSOP Ladies Event champ.

Tilly Clashes with Cates

On Hand #161 of the game, Tilly looked down at the 10♣10♠ in the hijack and raised to $200. Lindgren called from the cutoff with the 2♥2♦ and then Cates three-bet to $1,000 after picking up the Q♥Q♣ in the small blind.

Tilly four-bet to $4,200, Lindgren folded, and Cates just called to see a flop of 2♠10♥9♠. Cates checked his overpair and Tilly, who flopped a set, bet $3,000. The former called and then checked the 6♥ turn.

Tilly bet $5,000, Cates raised to $15,000, and Tilly moved all in for $49,700. Cates hit the tank while lamenting that he had raised. Cates ultimately laid it down, and Tilly showed the goods to the table.

Hellmuth’s Losing Ways

With several straddles on, including Cates having $400 out from the cutoff, Phil Hellmuth just called out of the small blind holding the 7♠7♦. Deeb, who had straddled for $200, raised to $1,600 with the K♦J♠ and called after Hellmuth moved all in for $5,825.

It was a flip, and the duo agreed to run it twice on the $12,250 pot. The 6♠5♦8♦ flop on the first runout kept Hellmuth in the lead, but the A♦ turn made it interesting by giving Deeb the best flush draw to go with his overs. A diamond didn’t materialize on the river, but the K♥ was just as good for Deeb, who paired up to secure half the pot.

The J♣10♠4♦ flop on the second gave Deeb the lead, and he held through the 9♠ turn and {9h| river to scoop the pot.

“You played it really well, Shaun, congratulations,” Hellmuth said sarcastically. “I’ve lost more in these two sessions than in a long, long time.”

Tilly Felts Deeb in Monster Pot

In the last hand of the episode, Lindgren raised to $1,200 from the button with the J♥J♣ and Deeb three-bet to $4,000 from the small blind with the 10♥10♦. Tilly then woke up with the A♠A♦ in the straddle and four-bet to $10,000.

Lindgren got away from his pocket jacks, while Deeb opted to call to see a flop of 6♦9♦6♣. Deeb checked, Tilly bet another $10,000, and Deeb check-jammed all in for $23,400. Tilly snap-called and just like that there was a $68,400 pot on the line.

Deeb wanted to run it just once, but he came up empty on the 4♦ turn and 5♠ river. With that, Tilly increased her stack into six-figure territory and became the game’s biggest winner by a large margin.
