The Dominican Republic’s Directorate General of Games of Chance (DGJA) issued an official reminder to owners and operators of lottery outlets, sports betting shops, and betting locations across the country, informing them that they have an extraordinary, non-extendable period of 30 calendar days to voluntarily declare establishments that were not registered during the initial Regularization Plan.
Through Resolution No. 02-2026, the regulator established this special period to clean up the local market, formalize unregularized establishments, and ensure a more transparent and enforceable gambling environment.
Key points of the measure
-
Incentives for formalization: The DGJA emphasized that the initiative provides a final opportunity for gambling retailers to regularize their tax and operational status without immediately facing severe penalties or permanent closures.
-
Application channels: Interested operators can complete the process digitally through the official platform established by the authorities or in person at the National Lottery headquarters in Santo Domingo.
-
Combating unauthorized gambling: The initiative is part of the Dominican government’s broader plan, led in coordination with National Lottery General Administrator Teófilo “Quico” Tabar, to reorganize the betting industry, sanction non-compliant establishments, and curb the evasion of government fees.
The Directorate General of Games of Chance urged associations and business owners in the retail sector not to miss this opportunity and to complete their declarations before the deadline established by the regulation expires.
