Lex Veldhuis began 2026 dropping a bombshell that he was leaving PokerStars after 15 years. He finally has a new home.
The legendary streamer with 330,000 Twitch subscribers is now part of the GGPoker team, according to a Tuesday press release. Veldhuis joins a star-studded roster headlined by Daniel Negreanu, who was also a longtime PokerStars Team Pro member.
Negreanu has been the face of GGPoker the past seven years after becoming a free agent earlier in 2019.
“His passion for the game, his unmatched work ethic, and his ability to connect with fans are exactly what we look for in a GGTeam ambassador,” Negreanu said of Veldhuis.
Lex Joins GG
Veldhuis is the most popular livestreamer in history. He built an empire on Twitch years ago, and his departure from PokerStars in January came as a shock to many. But he’s now an asset for GGPoker.
Not only has Veldhuis crushed it on Twitch, he’s had success in live poker tournaments and on televised high-stakes cash game shows such as the PokerStars Big Game and High Stakes Poker.
The Dutch poker pro was inactive from streaming most of 2025. But he’s back in his streaming mode, grinding multi-table tournaments on GGPoker.
“I’m really excited to officially join GGTeam as Global Streaming Ambassador and begin this new chapter,” Veldhuis said in a press release. “GGPoker is the biggest poker site in the world, and it really feels like the natural fit for me and my community. Over the last year I’ve played exclusively on GG and have been genuinely impressed by the software and the size of the tournaments. It has completely invigorated my enjoyment of poker and grinding again. Every time I’ve spoken with the GGPoker team I’ve been intrigued by their vision and their drive to innovate. It made me realize I wanted to be part of this process.”
Veldhuis, who mostly plays MTT’s online or live cash games, has over $700,000 in live tournament cashes and a large fan base that he’ll bring over to GGPoker.
