The Philadelphia 76ers have signed a multi-year partnership with prediction market company Kalshi, becoming the first NBA franchise to name an official partner in the sector.
The agreement comes days after the NBA announced multi-year partnerships with Kalshi and Polymarket, naming both companies as preferred prediction market exchanges of the league.
As part of the deal, Kalshi will fund postgame SEPTA rides for fans attending the 76ers’ game against the New York Knicks on 3 November, the Philadelphia Inquirer reported. The partnership will also introduce fan engagement initiatives for 76ers supporters and Kalshi users, including opportunities to win free merchandise and concessions through the team’s mobile app.
The agreement follows an announcement earlier this fall that 76ers forward LeBron James had signed a separate partnership with Polymarket, reported as worth $15 million annually. James is currently playing under a two-year contract with the 76ers worth a total of $7.9 million.
The NBA’s agreements with Kalshi and Polymarket mark the league’s first direct partnerships with prediction market companies. Under the agreement, the NBA will provide official league data for basketball sports event contracts. It will also involve direct collaboration on market integrity, consumer protection, and athlete safety.
“We’re excited to see the NBA engage directly in shaping this future. Safe, responsible innovation requires leagues, exchanges, and regulators to work together,” a Kalshi spokesperson said. ”With this partnership, we’re putting that collaboration into practice: official data, stronger integrity protections, and an open marketplace where fans set the prices.”
