IGT and MGM Springfield have launched the first wide-area progressive (WAP) slot games in Massachusetts, introducing jackpot opportunities of up to $1.125 million.
To mark the launch, MGM Springfield opened a dedicated Wheel of Fortune Slots Zone featuring 20 WAP games from IGT’s slot portfolio. The games are connected through a network that pools jackpot contributions, with the prize amount growing as more players use the machines.
The new zone features games across several of IGT’s latest cabinets, with progressive jackpot reset values ranging from $200,000 to $1.125 million.
Games include Wheel of Fortune Big Money on the Wheel of Fortune Trio cabinet, Wheel of Fortune Cash Link Reels Double Diamond and Cash Link Reels Double Gold on the DiamondRS Wheel cabinet, and Wheel of Fortune Triple Gold Gold Spin on the MegaTower cabinet. Other titles include Wheel of Fortune Triple Stars Gold Spin Deluxe on the CrystalWheel Stepper cabinet.
“MGM Springfield is excited to continue our tradition of ‘firsts’ by becoming the first casino in Massachusetts to offer players the chance to win life-changing jackpots on IGT’s Wheel of Fortune slot games,” said Ariam Aponte, MGM Springfield Vice President of Casino Operations.
“Our recently opened Wheel of Fortune Zone differentiates MGM Springfield, features an exciting mix of slots experiences, and offers jackpot opportunities that are new to players in Massachusetts.”
IGT CEO Hector Fernandez said: “Launching the first wide-area progressive games in Massachusetts with MGM Springfield gives players a new way to experience Wheel of Fortune Slots as we mark its 30th anniversary.
“IGT helped shape the WAP category through decades of innovation, and this launch builds on that legacy while creating new opportunities for our customers and their players.”
IGT first introduced the Wheel of Fortune slots in 1996. Since then, more than 300 game variations have paid out over $3.6 billion in jackpots and produced more than 1,200 millionaires.
IGT holds an exclusive licensing agreement with Sony Pictures Television to produce Wheel of Fortune slot games through 2034.
