A few months after appointing a new chairman, iGaming content provider Bragg Gaming Group has announced another leadership transition, parting ways with its current chief executive officer and appointing a new one on an interim basis. The one up to the task is the experienced Morten Tonnesen, who brings some 17 years of leadership experience.
Bragg Gaming Has Experienced a Significant Leadership Change
In its announcement, Bragg Gaming said that CEO Matevž Mazij is stepping down, transitioning to the role of strategic advisor with immediate effect. The company added that Morten Tonnesen has been named interim CEO, effective November 6, 2026.
Tonnesen is not a stranger to Bragg’s business, having served as the company’s chief operating officer since joining its team earlier this year. As CEO, he will assume responsibility for Bragg’s day-to-day operations. In this role, he will report directly to the company’s board of directors.
Tonnesen is someone with almost two decades of leadership experience across B2C and B2B iGaming, sports betting and technology. His track record has seen him create, build and exit businesses, operate at scale, and develop teams that deliver. In terms of B2C, Tonnesen is the co-founder of BetWarrior and has also spent 6 years at poker giant PokerStars. His B2B experience includes tenures as CCO of Shape Games and chief growth officer at Xtremepush.
In the meantime, Mazij will serve as strategic advisor, providing the board with guidance and supporting key stakeholders through the transition.
Bragg Is Happy Mazij Will Continue Lending It Its Support
Matt Davey, Bragg’s board chairman, commented on the leadership changes, thanking Mazij for his contributions and welcoming Tonnesen as CEO. Davey noted that Mazij founded Oryx, which was eventually merged into Bragg, creating an even stronger business. To top it all off, Mazij led Bragg through a challenging period, demonstrating exceptional leadership skills. Because of that, Davey was pleased that Mazij would continue to contribute in his new role.
Davey was similarly pleased about Tonnesen’s appointment, trusting him to guide the company going forward.
The board’s focus for the next phase is on disciplined execution, improving balance sheet strength, operating cash flow, and development and deployment of market leading technology, content and services. Morten has the operational experience to deliver against those tests, and the Board has full confidence in him.

My focus is execution, delivering for our operator partners and running a simpler and more focused business. I want to thank Matevž for his support through this transition and for what he has built.
